OF RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Randy Hammitt is a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force; and
WHEREAS, Randy Hammitt is member of Glendale’s 388th Composite Squadron and holds
the rank of Major in the Civil Air Patrol; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Civil Air Patrol is Supporting America's communities with
emergency response, diverse aviation and ground services, youth development, and promotion
of air, space and cyber power; and
WHEREAS, on the evening of May 20th, Randy Hammitt heard gunshots, witnessed an Active
Shooter situation, found two gunshot victims, called his wife Kelli, a nurse, for help and began
providing lifesaving emergency aide to a female victim on scene: and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P. Weiers, Mayor of the city of Glendale, Arizona, on behalf of
the City Council, do hereby recognize
Randy Hammitt
for exemplary behavior, decisive action and calm bravery that saved lives on May 20th.
