Proclamations, Opinions, Awards - Historical - 5/28/2020
OF RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the mission of the Avondale Fire Department is to provide the highest level
of service, including fire, medical and other safety services, to those who reside work or
travel through city of Avondale; and
WHEREAS, Avondale Fire Captain Christopher Spire was off-duty and enjoying dinner
in Glendale, Arizona at Westgate on the evening of May 20, 2020: and
WHEREAS, Captain Spire ensured the safety of his family before exiting the restaurant,
meeting Officer Ebersohl and informing her that he was a medic and ready to help; and
WHEREAS, Captain Spire’s training and professionalism resulted in lives being saved
on May 20th; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P. Weiers, Mayor of the city of Glendale, Arizona, on
behalf of the City Council, do hereby recognize
Captain Christopher Spire
for his bravery and commitment to providing quality emergency medical response
regardless of whether he is on the clock and what city he is in.
