Proclamations, Opinions, Awards - Historical - 4/28/2018 CITY OF GLENDALE WHEREAS, this Volunteer Appreciation Event is a time to celebrate our volunteers who dedicate their time and service that make significant and positive changes, great or small, through their individual and group actions; and WHEREAS, our volunteers provide vast improvement to our quality of life and increase community participation and ownership; and WHEREAS, volunteers help shape the policies that keep our City moving forward in the right direction and their impact can be felt throughout the community; and WHEREAS, our volunteers provided more than 65,000 hours of service in the past year to improve our community and make Glendale a better place to live; and WHEREAS, this year’s theme, “Glendale’s Most Wanted Volunteers” is the opportunity for the City of Glendale to recognize the tremendous contributions of those who generously give their time and talents throughout the year to improve their communities. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P. Weiers, Mayor of the City of Glendale, Arizona, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim April 28, 2018, as City of Glendale’s Volunteer Appreciation Day and urge all citizens to recognize the valuable contributions made by volunteers and our service organizations.
