Proclamations, Opinions, Awards - Historical - 3/15/2018 CITY OF GLENDALE WHEREAS, April 11, 2018, marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of the U. S. Fair Housing Law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, by President Lyndon Johnson, which created a national policy of Fair Housing without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex, family status, and handicap, and encourages fair housing opportunities for all citizens; and WHEREAS, the City of Glendale is committed to the mission and intent of Congress to provide fair and equal housing opportunities for all, and today, many realty companies and associations support fair housing laws; and WHEREAS, equal housing opportunity is a condition of life in our City that can and should be achieved; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P. Weiers, Mayor of the City of Glendale, Arizona, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the Month of April 2018, as FAIR HOUSING MONTH and express our support and promotion of fair housing practices throughout the City of Glendale.
