Proclamations, Opinions, Awards - Historical - 4/18/2019 CITY OF GLENDALE WHEREAS, this Volunteer Appreciation Event is a time to celebrate our volunteers who do extraordinary things through service; and WHEREAS, our volunteers provide vast improvement to our quality of life and increase community participation and ownership; and WHEREAS, the City of Glendale appreciates its volunteers and encourages them to continue to be active and participate in their community by linking their skills and resources to better serve our communities; and WHEREAS, our volunteers provided more than 67,000 hours of service in the past year to improve our community and make Glendale a better place to live; and WHEREAS, this year’s theme, “We Hit the Jackpot with Volunteers Like You” is the opportunity for the City of Glendale to recognize the tremendous contributions of those who generously give their time and talents throughout the year to improve their communities. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P. Weiers, Mayor of the City of Glendale, Arizona, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim April 18, as: City of Glendale’s Volunteer Appreciation Day and urge all citizens to recognize the valuable contributions made by volunteers and our service organizations.
