Proclamations, Opinions, Awards - Historical - 6/25/2019 CITY OF GLENDALE WHEREAS, the U.S. House of Representatives has designated July as Parks and Recreation Month as parks and recreation programs are an invaluable part of communities throughout this country; and WHEREAS, Glendale’s Parks and Recreation mission is to engage residents and visitors in diverse opportunities to play, learn, grow and be part of a community; in line with Glendale’s strategic mission - to improve the lives of the people we serve every day; and WHEREAS, Glendale, Arizona proudly recognizes the benefits of parks and recreation resources that are vitally important to supporting a healthy quality of life in our communities while contributing to the economic and environmental well-being of a community and region; and WHEREAS, Glendale’s Parks and Recreation department proudly maintains over 2,000 acres of park lands and open space, 47 miles of trails and provides over 400 diverse programs annually that encourage active communities, aide in the prevention of chronic disease, provide therapeutic recreation services for those of all abilities, while improving the mental and emotional health of all its citizens; and WHEREAS, our parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community and provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P.
