CITY OF GLENDALE
WHEREAS, DeMolay was founded in Kansas City, Missouri in 1919 thus celebrating its
Centennial year in 2019; and
WHEREAS, DeMolay International is an international organization, across 25 countries
worldwide, dedicated to preparing young men, to lead successful, happy, and productive
lives; and
WHEREAS, DeMolay helps young men aged 12 to 21 develop their civic awareness,
personal responsibility, and leadership skills; and
WHEREAS, the Glendale Chapter, Arizona Jurisdiction of the Order of DeMolay provides
its members with the opportunity to develop lasting friendships though fun activities and
service projects; and
WHEREAS, DeMolay counts among its Senior Members a Medal of Honor recipient,
professional athletes, and a President of the United States; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry P. Weiers, Mayor of the City of Glendale, Arizona, on
behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim 2019, as:
DeMolay Centennial Celebration Year
and urge all citizens to salute the young men of the Order of DeMolay and express
appreciation for the fine examples they set by contributing to the welfare of our community.
