CALL TO ORDER
Commissioner Aguinaga called the meeting to order at 6:09 PM.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
a. Arts Commission Minutes of January 25, 2024.
Motioned by Commissioner Anne Marie Chaney, seconded by Commissioner Jose
Aguinaga To approve the Arts Commission minutes of January 25, 2024

5. NEW BUSINESS
a. INFORMATION: Update on new Arts & Culture Administrator
Mr. Sabillon introduced Mr. Taylor, the new Arts and Culture Administrator. Mr. Taylor shared
a brief background on himself.
b. INFORMATION: Update on Current Projects
Mr. Sabillon gave an update on current projects, which included the following:
- Thunderbird Field Art Project.
A photo of the installation of the art was displayed.
It is nearly completed.
It is located at Acoma and 55th Avenue.
There will be a dedication ceremony the week of March 18th. More details on the exact date
will be sent to the Commissioners.
- Downtonw Glendale Arts and Culture Fest.
Will be held on March 9, 2024 in partnership with SAACA at the Civic Center Plaza. There will
be live art demonstrations, performing arts, and more.
- Glendale Folk and Heritage Festival
Will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 2nd and March 3rd. The Plein Air Painting
Competition will be held on March 2nd, in conjunction with the festival.
- The Phoenix Brass Collective.
A short video of the Phoenix Brass Collective performing at Glendale Community College was
played. This organization received a Glendale Performing Arts Grant.
c. ACTION: Approval of Grant Guidelines for 24/25 Performing Arts Grant
The Commissioners discussed tabling this agenda item, so that the Commissioners who were
not present had time to review and discuss the guidelines as well. Mr. Sabillon indicated that
tabling the item until next month would not cause any timeline issues with the grants.
Motioned by Commissioner Anne Marie Chaney, seconded by Commissioner Paige
Hyde Motion: To table the agenda item Approval of Grant Guidelines for 24/25 Performing
Arts Grants.

6. STAFF REPORTS
a. Mr. Sabillon reported on the following:
- Again welcomed Mr. Taylor\, the new Arts and Culture Administrator.
- The draft Arts Master Plan should be ready next month or soon after and will be shared with
the Commission and the City Council. The goal is for June Council approval of the Arts Master
'Plan.
- The downtown campus reinvestment project is underway and the Commission will be tasked
with procuring art for the new building.
- The Downtown Glendale Arts and Culture Fest will be held on March 9th.
- The Plein Air Competition will be held on March 2nd.
- The Live @ the Lot Music Series will be held this Saturday and there will be Taco Truck Fooc
wars.
7. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
None
8. NEXT MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Glendale Arts Commission will be held on March 19, 2024, at
6:00 p.m., in the Vault Conference Room at the Glendale Civic Center Annex, 5752 W. Glenn
Drive, Glendale, Arizona, 85301.
