CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Weiers called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m.

ACTION ITEM
1. DISCUSSION/CONSIDERATION OF FINALISTS TO FILL THE COUNCILMEMBER VACANCY IN
THE OCOTILLO DISTRICT (POSSIBLE ACTION)
Presented by: Michael Bailey, City Attorney
Ms. Bower read the item by title.
Mr. Bailey said Council would have the opportunity to meet and speak with the finalists for the
Ocotillo District Council vacancy. Each finalist would be given three minutes to address Council
regarding why he or she was qualified to be appointed to and serve the Ocotillo District.
The following finalists commented on the Ocotillo District Council vacancy:

Denise Quintana
Mickey Nunez
MOTION AND CALL TO ENTER INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION
A motion was made by Councilmember Bart Turner, seconded by Vice Mayor Ian Hugh to hold
an executive session.

Mayor Weiers recessed the special voting meeting at 11:18 a.m.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Council met in executive session at 11:18 a.m. for discussion/consultation with the City Attorney to
receive an update, to consider its position, and to provide instruction/direction to the City Attorney
regarding the process to fill an open city council seat pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03(A)(1)(3).
A motion was made by Councilmember Lauren Tolmachoff, seconded by Councilmember Ray
Malnar to adjourn the executive session.

Vice Mayor Hugh adjourned the executive session at 1:35 p.m.
Mayor Weiers reconvened the special voting meeting at 2:17 p.m.
Mr. Bailey said Council had conducted interviews with finalists for the Ocotillo District Council
vacancy. Mayor Weiers could request a motion and second to select a candidate to fill the
vacancy.
A motion was made by Councilmember Joyce Clark, seconded by Vice Mayor Ian Hugh to
appoint Leandro Baldenegro to fill the vacancy of the Ocotillo Disctrict Councilmember.
