1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Called the meeting to order at approximately 4:OOPM

3. CITIZEN COMMENTS
There were no comments made
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Rovey moved to approve the November 16, 2021 meeting minutes, Ms. Hackenberg seconded the
approval. All were in favor and none apposed.
5. WITHDRAWALS AND CONTINUANCES
There were no withdrawals or continuances.
6. DISCUSSION ITEMS
• Isaac School proposal for historical location
Mr. Lerma informed the commission that a citizen had inquired about this property, and the citizen
was directed to the school district that owns the property.
• Heart of Glendale plaques updates
Mr. Lerma updated the project from 2019. The next step will be to schedule two or three meetings
to inform the citizens of the placing and nomenclature of the plaques.
• Items Commission would like discussed in future meetings
Ms. Gomez stated these will tie in with the commission goals
• Commission Goals
Ms Perry directed the commission to the goal setting sheet attachment in their packet. Mr. Rovey
motioned to adopt Ms. Willow seconded Motion approved by all commission members.
7. OTHER BUSINESS
Mr. Quinn asked of the status of the Gaslight Hotel. He inquired about the rise in homelessness/graffiti
in Catlin Court and if there was still a community services area.
Ms Hackenberg inquired about the status of the Beet factory.
Ms Perry stated that staff would research and report back.
8. STAFF REPORT
There were no staff reports
a. This report allows the Staff of the Planning Division to update the Commission. The Commission is
prohibited from discussing or acting on any of the items presented by the Staff since they are not
itemized on the Historic Preservation Commission Agenda.
9. COMMISSION COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Ms. Lund discussed homeless situation around the Caitlin Court area. Ms. Perry suggested staff from
City of Glendale Community services get invited to speak at the next meeting for guidance on this
issue.
10. NEXT MEETING
The next regular meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission is scheduled for September 22,
2022 at 4:00 p.m., in conference room B3 of the Council Chambers Building, located at 5850 W.
Glendale Ave, Glendale, Arizona, 85301.
11. ADJOURNMENT
