5. NEW BUSINESS
a. INFORMATION: Ballet Arizona - Featuring a Current Performing Arts Partnership
Program Grantee Organization
Ms. Vahabzadeh introduced Ms. Stern and Ms. Papazian, who were present to share
information on their partnership with Glendale, success of their program, and their program
pivots during the pandemic.
Ms. Papazian provided information on the various offerings of Ballet Arizona, the history with
the City of Glendale, and their Class Act Program for students. Ms. Papazian explained a new
offering for the students, called Dance AZ. She stated after weeks of lessons, the students
would put on a show at their school. She stated Ballet Arizona would like to expand this
program in the future, so that the show could be held at the Ballet Arizona Black Box Stage,
which would give the students a complete artistic experience. Ms. Papazian explained at the
Black Box Stage, the students would be able to experience backstage, front of house, the
costume shop, and set -building, in addition to performing with professionals. She stated that
Ballet Arizona would like to work with a transportation partner, such as Act One, to transport
the kids to Ballet Arizona for the performance.
Ms. Papazian clarified the proposed change in the program was being considered for
FY2022-23, as it was too soon to implement for this coming fiscal year.

• The application period will be open for 1.5 months to 2 months and then the
Commissioners will review the applications in August
