DENNEY ANNEXATION/DEANNEXATION Gordon Pedrow, Assistant City Manager, gave a brief summary of the item by stating that Mrs. Edith Denney has made a request to the City of Glendale that her property known as the Denney Ranch be allowed to be annexed by the City of Litchfield Park because of long-standing ties of the Denney family to that community. The subject property is currently under the jurisdiction of Maricopa County, but lies within and on the southern edge of the strip annexation boundary of the City of Glendale. Mr. Van Haren, Glendale's City Attorney, briefed Council on the process needed to make the property available to Litchfield Park. He stated that this method is legally possible under state statutes which permit the deannexation of property from one municipality to another subject to the approval of the County Board of Supervisors. He stated that after the deannexation ordinances were done by the surrounding cities, Litchfield Park would then be able to prepare an annexation ordinance annexing this property into their jurisdiction. Mr. Bill Farrell, City Attorney of Litchfield Park, gave a brief history of the property in question and said that Litchfield Park would like to annex the property to make provision for future growth. Mr. Kleinschmidt, City Manager of Goodyear, gave a brief history of the subject property and the position of Goodyear in this action. He said Goodyear was in favor of the procedure. This item will be placed on the September 12th Council agenda for formal consideration. 70-
