GLENDALE AVENUE ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, 1987, AT 3:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Chairwoman Mrs. Marie Sands at 3:00 p.m. with the following members present: Enid Abel, Betty Wade, Lowell Roger;, and Bob Page. Also present were: Rodeane Widom, Library and Cable Director; Howard Post, Artist; and Suzanne Brown and Gloria Santiago, Staff Liaison to the Glendale Arts Commission. The minutes were approved. Lessner (final payment) X50 0® Balance $ 95,145.00 Lowell Rogers, Clock Committee Chairman, reported on the Town Clock. The Ad Hoc Committee and the Arts Commission Clock Sub -Committee have agreed on a design for the Town Clock. The "1890 Street Clock" has been selected. The specification of this Clock are® Height 1616" Weight Approximately 1,500 pounds Posts "Victorian" Four Face 30" Diameter back -lit dials Poles Cast Aluminum - $19,925 Poles Cast iron - $22,700 Costs Shopping & Delivery - 10% - 15% of the cost A motion was made by Mr. Rogers and seconded by Mr. Page to present the proposed "1890 Street Clock" design, made of cast aluminump to the City Council. The motion passed unanimously. A second motion was made by Mr. Rogers and seconded by Mr. Page that the Arts Commission purchase the Town Clock from the Municipal Art Fund. The motion passed unanimously. It was suggested that, at a future time, a plaque be placed at the base of the Clock pole. Howard Post and Suzanne Brown presented tow sketches of the proposed artwork for the new Library. The final artwork would be 81 x 211 and be done in three panels that would be viewed as one. Mr. Post, the artist, received input from the Commission. The artwork would be completed by September 31 1987. The Municipal Art Plater on Howard Post, will be presented at the next City Council meeting. The Howard Post Exhibition will be held at the City Council Gallery on Tuesday, March 24. The Exhibition will be on display through April 27. The April meeting has been changed to Wednesday, April 22, 1987. Jim Kiley, from the Lincor Corporation, has asked the Arts Commission if they would display the model of the winning sculpture competition in the Municipal Art Gallery. The Arts Commission has agreed. The model will be on display April. 22.
