GLENDALE, ARIZONA 85301 NOVEMBER 7, 2017 10:00 A.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER Councilmember Malnar called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: Councilmember Ray Malnar Vice Mayor Ian Hugh Councilmember Bart Turner Also Present:Jenna Goad, Intergovernmental & Council Service Manager Julie K. Bower, City Clerk Denene Nolder, Executive Assistant 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no comments. 4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES a. Government Services Committee Minutes of September 5, 2017 Motioned by Vice Mayor Ian Hugh, seconded by Councilmember Bart Turner to approve the minutes of the September 5, 2017 Government Services Committee meeting. RESIGNATIONS Citizen Utility Advisory Commission - Ruth Faulls, Barrel District. 6. DISCUSSION ON THE NEW BOARD AND COMMISSION APPOINTMENT PROCESS City Clerk, Julie Bower said November 15th was the deadline for the applications for the people who were interested in serving. Ms. Bower said a few members terms were expiring in January, 2018. Most had indicated that they would like to request reappointment, and two had mentioned they did not want to be reappointed. Councilmember Malnar would like to appoint everyone for the Human Relation Commission all at once in December if the vacancies could be filled. Ms. Bower would email the Mayor and Councilmembers to remind them of all vacancies for them to make recommendations. Ms. Bower sent all notices to all current boards and commissions members telling them that their terms were being extended to Jan 31st to whatever year their term was expiring. 7. MOTION TO ENTER INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION Motioned by Councilmember Bart Turner, seconded by Vice Mayor Ian Hugh to hold an executive session. AYE:Councilmember Ray Malnar, Vice Mayor Ian Hugh, Councilmember Bart Turner Passed 8. EXECUTIVE SESSION Discussion on consideration of appointments to the following boards and commissions and other bodies (A.R.S. 38-431.03(A)(1)): 1. Arts Commission 2. Aviation Advisory Commission 3. Board of Adjustment 4. Citizens Bicycle Advisory Committee 5. Citizens Transportation Oversight Commission 6. Commission on Persons with Disabilities 7. Community Development Advisory Committee 8.
