Chair Larry Flatau called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Also in attendance: Chris Fundis, Kolby Waters, Michael Osborn, Michael Scanlon, and City Staff-Sandy
Adams, and Purab Adabala.
Members abscnt: Anthony Pratcher, and Gus Woodman
II. APPROVALOFMINUTES
Chris Fundis made a motion to approve minutes from the February 1,2016 meeting and Michael Scanlon
seconded the motion. Minutes from the February 1,2016 meeting were approved unanimously (5-0).

There were no changes to the agenda ofthis meeting.
V. INTRODUCTIONS
All members and staff introduced themselves.
VL REPORTSFROMOTHERCOMMITTEESANDORGANIZATTONS
Purab Adabala provided information about Arizona Bicycling Summit 2016 held in Mesa, Arizona on April
l, 2016. Mr. Adabala mentioned that stakeholders for all forms of bicycling were present at the summit.
According to Mr. Adabala, representatives from the Arizona kgislature, FHWA, ADOT, MAG, cities,
counties, and contractors were present at this event. Mr. Adabala stated that information pertaining to
bicycle facilities such as trails, multiuse paths, bike lanes, bike parks, and bicycle safety were shared at this
gathering.
VII. LEAGUE OF AMERICAN BICYCLISTS PRIORITY CITY VISIT
Purab Adabala, Public Works - Transportation shared information from the League of American Bicyclists
about bicycling in Glendale and how it compares to other cities nalionwide. Details on how communitics
are evaluated for bicycle friendly rating were provided as part of the presentation. Some examples of good
policies and practices were also provided in the presentation.
V[I. 20T6 GLENDALE FAMILY BTKE RIDE
Sandra Adams, Public Works - Transportation provided information pertaining to the April 10, 2016
Glendale Family Bike Ride event. Ms. Adams mentioned that the ridc will had three different routes i.e.
short, long, and extended based on route length. Ms. Adams thanked all volunteer who made themselves
available to help with the event. Ms. Adams stated that therc were three manned rest stops instead of the
two rest stops in the past. Ms. Adams also shared the following information:
o 546 riders, with 400 pre-registrations
o Free Maps, T-Shits, and $10 helmets
o 483 riders provided route preference

o 205 riders or 42o/o selected the short route, which is 6-mile long
o 146 riders or 30o/o selected the long route, which is lS-mile long
o 132 riders or 27o/o selected the extended route, which is 23-mile long
o Three rest stops were available for riders along thc routes
o Marshall Ranch Elementary School (along all three routes)
o Sunset Vista Park (along long and extended routes)
o Legend Springs Elementary School (along extended route)
o Valley Metro bus for everyone present to get familiar with transit buses
o Glendale Urban Shuttle bus, Police, and Fire Department for rider assislance, if needed
o Barrow Neurological Institule for doing blood pressure checks and handing out brain injury
information
o Ron Harkins, Disc Jokey
r Inflatables for bouncing around and rock climbing were available for kids

o Marketing efforts in promoting Glendale Family Bike Ride and committee recommendations
o Bicycle Friendly Community application status with the League of American Bicyclists
o Glendale's bicycle and pedestrian projects' status update
r Potential agenda for Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee for the next year
X. OTHERBUSINESS
No other discussion happened at this meeting.
XI. NEXTMEETING
Chair Flatau said that the next meeting of the Glendale Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee will be on
Monday August 1,2016 6:30 p.m., at the Basement Meeting Room 83, City Hall, 5850 West Glendale
Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301.
XII. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Flatau adjourned the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
