CALLTOORDER Chair Larry Flatau called the rneeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Also in attendance: Chris Fundis, Kolby Waters, Michael Osbom, Michael Scanlon, Anthony Pratcher, and City Staff- Martin Dickey, Sandy Adams, and Purab Adabala. Memben absent: None IL APPROVALOFMINUTES Michael Scanlon made a motion to approve minutes from the June 6,2016 meeting and Chris Fundis seconded the motion. Minutes from the June 6, 2016 meeting were approved unanimously (6-0). NI. CALLTO THB PUBLIC No members of public were prescnt at the meeting. ry. CONTINUANCE OR WITHDRAWAL OF AGENDA ITEMS There were no changes to the agenda of this meeting. V. INTRODUCTIONS All members and staffinhoduced themselves. VI. REPORTSFROMOTHERCOMMITTEESAI\DORGAITIZATIONS Purab Adabala mentioned that three Glendale pedeshian projects were previously funded with federal monies for construction in FY 2018, FY 2019, and FY 2020. Mr. Adabala stated that the three projects are now funded in FY 2016 for design with federal funds. The three projects are: o FY 2018 - Camelback Road sidewalk from 79h to 83'd avenues. o FY 2019 -Paradise Lane sidewalk from 55s to 596 avenues, and o FY 2020 - 67th Avenue sidewalks from Glendale to Orangewood avenues, and Orangewood Avenue from 676 to Grand avenues. VI|. GLENDALE FAMILY BIKE RIDE Martin Dickey, Special Events, Public Facilities & Events Administrator mentioned that he was available for questions regarding the bike ride. Mr. Dickey mentioned that the Marketing and Communications Department was reorganized and that after reorganization, stafffrom various departments is responsible for various tasks of the Glendale Family Bike Ride (GFBR). Mr. Flatau had suggestions for Press Releases (Glendale Star/Glendale Today/etc.) both before and after the event; PhotographyA/ideo during Bike Ride; Posting of PhotographyA/ideo to Glendale Bicycle Website; Recognition of Supporters; etc. Mr. Flatau also wanted to know how Glendale could further the success of GFBR through media, council meetings, etc. Mr. Flatau was also interested in gening City representatives to participate in the event. Mr. Waters suggested a hashtag (#) be identified for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram event information feeds. BrcYcLE FRTENDLY COMMT NITY (BFC) Mr. Adabala mentioned that the Bicycle Friendly Community Feedback Rcport from 2013 was distributed to members in advance for review and comments. Mr. Adabala opened up the meeting for comments: Mr. Flatau asked for a future presentation on the recommendations that have boen implemented and the recommendations that were not implemented. Mr. Flatau also wanted the draft General Plan distributed to members for review. Mr. Waters wanted to know how Glendale could engage businesses in making the city a bicycle friendly comrnunity. Mr. Waters also wanted to know what the permit requirements are for placing a bike rack along Glendale Avenue. Mr. Adabala stated that the information related to permit process would be made available at a future committee meeting. Mr. Fundis asked for a presentation on bicyclc and pedestrian safety from Sandra Adams, Transportation Education Program Manager. Mr. Adabala stated that this request would be passed on to Ms. Adarns. Ix. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS The following items were requested to be included in future meeting agendas: o Bicycle and pedestrian projects status r Glendale Public Information Officer to discuss Glendale Family Bike Ride r Transportation Plan o Bicycle Friendly Community Feedback Reporr recommendations status o Bicycle and pedestrian safety education o Visit completed project sites X. OTHER BUSINESS No other discussion happened at this meeting. XI. NEXTMEETING Chair Flatau stated that the next meeting of the Glendale Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee will be on Monday October 3,2016 6:30 p.m., at the Basement Meeting Room B3, City Hall, 5850 West Glendale Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301.
