FINAL MINUTES
I. Call to Order Chairperson Lesser called the meeting to order at
approximately 6:00 p.m.
II. Roll Call Commissioners LeGendre, Cox, Steiger, and Chairperson Lesser
were present.
Ms. Stephanie Miller, Senior Management Assistant, was present.
III. Approval of Minutes - Chairperson Lesser called for a motion on the
minutes of January 19, 2016 and February 16, 2016.
Commissioner Cox made a motion to approve the January 19, 2016
meeting minutes as written. Chairperson Lesser seconded the
motion, which was unanimously approved.
Commissioner Cox made a motion to approve the February 16, 2016
meeting minutes as written. Chairperson Lesser seconded the
motion, which was unanimously approved.
IV. Business From The Floor
Chairperson Lesser called for any Business From The Floor. There was
none.
V. Commission Member Loyalty Oath
Chairperson Lesser called for this item. Commissioner LeGendre took the
loyalty oath and was reappointed to the Commission to serve for another
term. The Board congratulated him.
VI. Glendale Empowerment Expo
Chairperson Lesser said the Glendale Empowerment Expo would be held on
Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Civic Center, 5750
West Glenn Drive. The Community Services Department presented the list
of registered agencies that will be in attendance, marketing efforts, the
nominations for the Glendale Empower Award, and reviewed the event
schedule with the Commission. The Commission will consider nominations
and select the winners for the Glendale Empower Awards.

Ms. Miller indicated where she had placed flyers to advertise the event.
She encouraged the Commission to also display flyers in places they felt
were appropriate. She said flyers have been posted at the Glendale Gallery
at Westgate. She said this would be advertised on the homepage of the
City's website as well as all social media.
Chairperson Lesser called for a discussion on the Disability Service Provider
Award.
After a discussion regarding the applications received, the Chairperson
asked for a motion.
Commissioner LeGendre made a motion to recommend FSL —
Glendale Adult Day Health Center. Chairperson Lesser seconded the
motion, which was approved with a vote of 4 to 0.
Chairperson Lesser called for a recommendation for the Individual Disability
Award.
Commissioner LeGendre recommended Kevin Ronson. Chairperson Lesser
nominated Mr. Timothy Stump.
Commissioner Steiger made a motion to recommend Mr. Timothy
Stump. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, which was
approved with a vote of 3 to 0 with Commissioner LeGendre
abstaining.
Ms. Miller reviewed the Expo schedule with the Commission and displayed
the Civic Center layout.
VII. Valley Metro Accessibility Advisory Group
Chairperson Lesser called for this discussion item. Ms. Miller stated the
Community Services Department received information from Northwest
Valley Connect regarding the Valley Metro Accessibility Advisory Group.
The Group is currently seeking applications. Ms. Miller shared information
about the Group's applications and goals.
This was for information only.
VIII. Commission Meeting Schedule
Due to a minimal number of monthly discussion topics for the Commission
on Persons with Disabilities to review, the Commission discussed the
possibility of reducing the number of meetings from monthly to bi-monthly
or possibility quarterly beginning fiscal year 16-17.

Commissioner Cox made a motion to hold bi-monthly meetings.
Commissioner Steiger seconded the motion, which was approved
with a vote of 3 to 1 (LeGendre).
IX. Staff Updates
Ms. Miller shared information with the Commission on key activities since
its last meeting. She displayed how the information in Glendale @ Play
states that all programs are adaptive. Information has been moved to the
front of the pamphlet in hopes that all interested persons will understand
that the programs can accommodate all persons, not just able-bodied.
Ms. Miller stated she has been working with WebContent to update the
Commission's webpages.
X. Commission Comments
Chairperson Lesser called for this item. There were none.
XI. Adjournment
With no further business, Chairperson Lesser asked for a motion to adjourn.
Commissioner LeGendre made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner
Cox seconded the motion, which was approved unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
