GLENDALE AVENUE GLENDALE,ARIZONA Thursday,January 7, 2016 MEMBERS PRESENT: Cherie Hudson, Chair Matthew Versluis Chuck Jared Sharyn Nesbitt Dennise Rogers Denise Flynn Cathy Cheshier Ronald Jauregui MEMBERS ABSENT: Mickey Nunez Karissa Ann Ramirez Dorlisa Dvorak STAFF PRESENT: Gilbert Lopez, Revitalization Manager Renee Ayres-Benavidez, Revitalization Grants Supervisor Melissa Galvez, Accounting Specialist Eric Strunk, Community Services Director Tim Barnard, Assistant Community Services Director Charyn Palmisano, Revitalization Supervisor Elizabeth Garcia, Revitalization Coordinator Jamie McFarland, Revitalization Coordinator Call to Order Chair Hudson called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. II. Roll Call Committee-members introduced themselves and Mr. Lopez introduced staff. III. Public Comment/Business from the Floor None. IV. Fiscal Year (FY) 2016-17 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant(ESG) Funding Requests Recommendations Mr. Lopez distributed information regarding estimates of available CDBG funding: • Public Service Activities: $316,192 estimated available, $480,002 in requests • ESG: $171,540 estimated available, $303,470 in requests 1 The Committee-members held detailed discussions regarding the grant funding requests. Committee-member Cheshier motioned, seconded by Committee-member Jared, to recommend funding the following CDBG Public Service grant requests and the following Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) requests for FY 2016-2017 as follows: • City of Glendale - Community Action Program -Eviction Prevention: $65,000 • Society of St. Vincent de Paul—Keeping Families Together: $60,000 • Homeward Bound—Empowering Families: $13,031 • Arizona YWCA of Metropolitan Phoenix—Congregate Meals: $45,398 • Duet: Partners in Health & Aging—Independence for Seniors: $13,500 • St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance—Glendale Food Home Delivery: $15,000 • Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK-AZ): AASK Mentoring Program: $10,000 • Back to School Clothing Drive Association — New Clothes New Beginnings Annual Distribution: $10,000 • Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix — Swift Kids Academic Success Program: $10,000 • Arizona YWCA of Metropolitan Phoenix—Home Delivered Meal Program: $50,000 • Community Legal Services,Inc.—Housing and Fair Housing Legal Services: $12,263 • Community Legal Services, Inc. — Removing Barriers to Justice for Low-Income Glendale Residents: $12,000 • A New Leaf—Rapid Re-Housing Services: $35,540 • Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) - Rapid Re-Housing: $31,000 • City of Glendale - Community Action Program - Rapid Re-Housing: $45,000 • A New Leaf—Faith House Emergency Shelter Operations: $25,000 • Streetlight USA—Shelter Operating Costs—Utilities: $10,000 • UMOM New Day Centers, Inc—Emergency Shelter for Families—Glendale: $25,000 Motion carried 8 - 0.
