FINAL MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER—6:00 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners John Sipple,Roger Schwierjohn, Robert Gehl, Chair Ron
Short,and Vice-chair Jonathan Liebman
Absent: Commissioners Ruth Faulls and Robin Berryhill

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Approval of the Final Minutes, May 6, 2015 meeting - Motion for approval made by Comm.
Schwierjohn, seconded by Comm. Sipple. APPROVED 5-0
IV. DIRECTOR'S REPORT—Craig Johnson,P.E., Water Services Director
Mr. Johnson presented an update on Comm. Berryhill's tour of Water Services sites on July 10,
2015. He added that two more tours of i sites are planned at the end of September for
Councilmembers Tolmachoff and Turner. Their earlier tours of the Pyramid Peak Water Treatment
Plant and Arrowhead Ranch Water Reclamation Facility were cut short due to previous
commitments.
Mr. Johnson provided an update on Boards and Commissions reappointments made at the August
25, 2015 meeting. He explained Commissioners Schwierjohn, Gehl, and Berryhill were
reappointed to the Commission for two more years, and he congratulated Comm. Liebman and
Comm. Schwierjohn on their appointments as Commission Chair and Vice-chair respectively.
Certificates of Recognition were presented to out-going Chair Ron Short and out-going Vice-chair
Liebman for their service to the Commission.
Mr. Johnson outlined the activities planned for the City of Glendale Water Services Centennial
event on Saturday, October 3 at the Main Public Library from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is free to
attend with refreshments and several free items to be given away. Partners Central Arizona Project
and Salt River Project and the Water Services Department's own Conservation and Sustainable
Living will be on-hand to present information to the public.

Mr. Johnson informed the Commission of two Council Workshops being held in October with
topics that might be of interest to Commission members. The October 6 Workshop will present
information on the Service Line Warranty Council Item of Special Interest item requested by
Councilmember Sherwood. The October 20, 2015 Workshop will present the Commissions'
recommendations on the Urban Irrigation program to the Council. Council Workshops begin at
1:30 p.m. in Room B3.
Mr. Johnson also presented information on the Touch-a-Truck event on October 17, 2015 held at
Westgate. This annual event is always a huge draw for the public since many departments feature
the vehicles used in their daily duties. The public can run many of the features of the pieces of
equipment and vehicles under the supervision of trained staff. He also announced the 30th
Anniversary event of the Water Conservation Program to be celebrated on Wednesday, December 2
from 4-6 p.m. at the Main Library. This event will be huge draw for school children, parents, and
teachers. Hands-on activities will be available along with simple refreshments.

V. STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE
Ms. Amanda McKeever, Water Services Administrator, presented information and the schedule to
the Commission. This schedule balances topics requested by the Commission with staff time
commitments for the next two years.

VI. CALL TO THE AUDIENCE
Mr. Carl Dietzman, W. Morten Avenue, presented a list to the Commission on Urban Irrigation
system leaks he feels Salt River Irrigation (SRI) is remiss on. Mr. Johnson assured Mr. Dietzman.
that his concerns would be researched and addressed.

IX. ADJOURNMENT — Motion to adjourn was made by Comm. Schwierjohn, seconded by Vice-
chair Liebman. MOTION APPROVED by voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
