HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Minutes - Industrial Development Authority - Meeting Date: 10/3/2013 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE,ARIZONA (October 3,2013) A Special Meeting of the Board of Directors of The Industrial Development Authority of the City of Glendale, Arizona (the "Authority") was duly called and held on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. in the Economic Development Conference Room, Suite 217,.Glendale City Hall, 5850 West Glendale Drive, Glendale,Arizona. The following Directors of the Authority were present at the meeting: Howard A. McKenna (by telephone), John Catledge, Robert L. Holmes, Michael F. Mitchum and Lyle Miller. Michael F. Mitchum presided at the meeting. Also present was William F. Wilder, legal counsel to the Authority and Chris Coffman, Executive Director of Helping Hands for Single Moms. The minutes of the Special Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Authority held on September 11, 2013, were presented to the meeting and reviewed and discussed. Mr. Mitchum asked the minutes be corrected to correct the balance of Authority funds shown on the financial report distributed at the meeting was $170,707.02. Upon a motion made by Mr. Catledge and seconded by Mr, Miller, the reading of the minutes was waived and the corrected minutes were approved and adopted by unanimous vote. Mr. Mitchum advised that the next item on the Agenda was for the Board to discuss and take action as determined regarding continued participation in a program to fund scholarships for Helping Hands for Single Moms. r Mr. Mitchum called upon Mr. Coffman to review for the Board the scholarship program and the manner in which the past year's funding had been applied and expended. Mr. Coffman discussed the Helping Hands program and distributed to the Board a Spring 2013 Semester Report together with biographical information regarding each recipient of the Glendale IDA scholarships and general information regarding the Helping Hands program (copies of these materials to be included in the permanent records of the Authority). After further discussion, regarding the Helping Hands program as well as the financial condition of the Authority and upon a motion made by Mr. Catledge and seconded by Mr. Homes, the Board unanimously voted to award a $15,000 grant to Helping Hands for Single Moms to fund scholarships to single moms either residing in or attending school in Glendale. There being no further business, upon the motion of Mr. Holmes, duly seconded by Mr. Miller, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m. e j--: Michael F. Mitchum, Secretary 3382312.1 10/07/13
