Glendale Ave. Glendale, AZ MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Elaine Scruggs, Chair Acting City Manager Horatio Skeete, Board Member Capt. Mark Manor, Board Member, Present Telephonically Capt. Joe Hester, Board Member, Present Telephonically STAFF PRESENT: Jim Brown, Interim Human Resources Director and Board Secretary Nick DiPiazza, Chief Deputy City Attorney Melissa Carrao, Personnel Division Manager, Fire Marcia Zientek, Human Resources Support Staff MEMBERS ABSENT: Larry Clark, Citizen Board Member Call to Order Mayor Elaine Scruggs, Chair, called to order the Local Fire Board meeting at 9:10 a.m. Administration of Loyalty Oath Before administering the Loyalty Oath to Acting City Manager Horatio Skeete, Mayor Scruggs communicated the importance of this Board and the items that come before it. The Mayor noted that this Board offers tremendous challenges, rewards, and a sense of fulfillment. She acknowledged that over the years the Board, with the help of Nick DiPiazza, our attorney for many years, has developed a very strong, honest, thorough process. Mayor Scruggs commented that she is proud of the work the Board has done, and knows that it will continue to do so in the future. She noted that it's a very serious responsibility, obligation, and position because we are serving those who serve us every day with their lives. Mayor Elaine Scruggs, Chair, then proceeded to administer the Loyalty Oath to newly appointed Board Member, Acting City Manager Horatio Skeete. Review and Approval of the March 28,2012 Local Fire Board Meeting Minutes The minutes of the March 28, 2012 Local Fire Board meeting were reviewed. Capt. Mark Manor moved to accept the minutes as presented. Capt. Joe Hester seconded the motion. The Board voted and passed the motion unanimously. Page 1 of 2 PSPRS Local Fire Board Meeting Minutes 7/25/12 Review and Approval of Application for Enrollment into the Deferred Retirement Option Plan ("D.R.O.P.")—Edward Tirone The Local Fire Board reviewed Edward Tirone's D.R.O.P. Enrollment Application. Edward Tirone, Fire Captain, has 25.254 years of credited service. He has elected to participate in the Deferred Retirement Option Plan ("D.R.O.P.") on May 11, 2012. He has chosen to participate in the D.R.O.P. for a period of sixty (60) months. On an after this date, the employee and employer contributions will cease to be made to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System. He must terminate employment with the City of Glendale Fire Department on or before May 11, 2017. The action requested of the Board is to approve the Application for Enrollment in D.R.O.P. Retirement submitted by Edward Tirone, Fire Captain. Capt. Mark Manor motioned to approve the D.R.O.P. Enrollment Application submitted by Edward Tirone, Fire Captain. Capt. Joe Hester seconded the motion. The Board voted and passed the motion unanimously. New Business There was no new business.
