FUTURE MEETING DATES AND TIMES
The standing meeting time of 4:00pm and location of the Arts Commission meeting are not
conducive to public participation. Staff requests the Arts Commission move the meeting time,
location and the day, beginning in February 2012. Any changes will be forwarded to the
Government Service Committee for review and consideration.
Mojgan Vahabzadeh, Public Arts Coordinator, facilitated a discussion on moving the meeting
time, location and the day, beginning February 2012.
Commissioner Barbour expressed her concern with the time having to be moved to 6:00pm as
well as the day. She explained this was very difficult for her and would probably miss many
meetings. Additionally, they would be losing Commissioner Dagostino since he works nights
and will not be able to make the later time. Ms. Vahabzadeh stated she sympathized with their
predicament, but the standing meeting time of 4:00pm and location is not conducive to public
participation and needed to be changed.
Commissioner Dagostino stated he understood why they had to make the time change and
regretted he would have to step down as Commissioner. He agreed that the time change might
bring more people to attend the meetings.
Ms. Vahabzadeh explained the first floor would be more accessible to the public. However,
from time to time, the meetings will be held in the boardroom of the Main Library for
presentations.
The Commissioner discussed what day would be the most convenient for everyone. After much
discussion, the Commissioners decided to hold the Arts Commission meetings the 4th Thursday
of every month beginning in February as well as changing the time to 6:00pm. Ms. Vahabzadeh
noted this will be pending approval from the city
A MOTION was MADE by Commission member Dagostino to APPROVE changing the
