MINUTES
L CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Brad Meek called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.
Also in attendance: Fred Coury,Brent Ackzen, David Coble,John Horvath,Mike Wood,Garret Simpson and City
Transportation staff—Steve Hancock and Barb Caviness
Members absent: Norman Crowell
Guests:None
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes from the February 7,2011 meetings were approved.
III. CALL TO THE PUBLIC
No members of the public were in attendance.
IV. INTRODUCTIONS
All members introduced themselves.
V. CONTINUANCE OR WITHDRAWAL OF AGENDA ITEMS
No agenda items required continuance or withdrawal.
VI. REPORTS FROM OTHER COMMITTEES AND ORGANIZATIONS
Brent Ackzen said the Citizen Transportation Oversight Commission(CTOC)was updated by him on the planning for
the April 4th Glendale Family Bike Ride. He also said that a representative from ADOT reported to CTOC on current
and proposed freeway improvements for Loop 101 in the West Valley.Brent went on to say that a representative from
MAG reported on the concept of"managed lanes"which includes toll facilities and other traffic management
strategies to reduce congestion
VII. THE GLENDALE FAMILY BIKE RIDE
Steve Hancock said that the ride was only six days away with no unresolved issues that were of any consequence to
having a successful event. All the ride venues, i.e., Sahauro ranch Park,Marshall Ranch ES,and Sunset Vista Park,
were secured for the event. Parking space at GCC was secured through a rental agreement. Steve displayed an aerial
view of the Sahuaro Ranch soccer field with all the tents and occupants identified. He listed the various health
vendors that would be occupying various tents as well as tents where CBAC members would be fulfilling volunteer
roles. Barb Caviness told members that she was coordinating all the volunteer activities at the ride asked members to
confirm their assigned roles: Brad Meek said he would be doing car counts and parking as well as registration,he also
said his wife Maureen would be helping with registration also;Garret Simpson said he would be doing registration;
Fred Coury confirmed he would also be doing registration;Dave Coble volunteered to do helmet fitting. Brent
Ackzen was unsure if he could be at the ride but said he would notify Barb if he could be there. Brad Meek asked if

the bright yellow-green hats used by volunteers in past years would be available. Steve Hancock said the hats would
be given to the volunteers.
VIII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
No future agenda items were suggested.
IX. OTHER BUSINESS
No other business was raised.
X. NEXT MEETING
Brad Meek said the next regular meeting of the Glendale Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee would be held on
Monday, May 2, 2011, 6:30 p.m., Transportation Planning Conference Room, Bank of America Building, 5800 W.
Glenn Dr., Suite 315.
XII. ADJOURNMENT
Brad Meek adjourned the meeting at 7:12 p.m.
