HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Minutes - Citizens Bicycle Advisory Committee - Meeting Date: 10/3/2005 CITY OF GLENDALE CITIZEN BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CBAC) Monday, October 3, 2005 MUNICIPAL COMPLEX 5850 West Glendale Avenue 6:30 PM, Room B-3 MINUTES I. CALL TO ORDER Michael Wood called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Also in attendance: Brian Kanitsch, Jeff Reid, Keith Cyrnek, Ed Cure, Charles Grosscup, and City staff— Steve Hancock Members absent: Bill Wilkinson. Guests: Betsy Turner, Jim Hunton II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the August 1, 2005 meeting were approved. III. CALL TO THE PUBLIC No guests addressed the Committee. IV. INTRODUCTIONS Members and guests introduced themselves. V. CONTINUANCE OR WITHDRAWAL OF AGENDA ITEMS No agenda items required continuance or withdrawal VI. REPORTS FROM OTHER COMMITTEES AND ORGANIZATIONS There were no reports. VII. BYLAWS REVIEW Steve Hancock asked Committee members if they had any changes or corrections based on their review of the CBAC Bylaws. Ed Cure said that there had been exhaustive review two years ago with multiple drafts and that he saw no reason to revisit the bylaws at this time. Steve said that the Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes October 3,2005 —Page 2- bylaws state "Members will conduct a review of Bylaws every two years." The Committee agreed that a review had taken place and that no changes or amendments were needed. VIII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS No items were brought forward. IX. OTHER BUSINESS Ed Cure said that there was no access into Thunderbird Park for road bikes. He said he had spoken to the Director of Parks and Recreation and that she had suggested that the CBAC request improvements for road bike access. Steve Hancock said that he would draft a letter for Michael Woods's signature if Ed would provide him with more specific information on the issue. Ed raised another issue, noting that a segment of concrete path extends from the Skunk Creek pathway, south on 55th Avenue, and then abruptly ends after 30 or so feet. He said he thought the path should be extended all the way to Union Hills so it would connect to the 55th Avenue bike route south of Union Hills. Brian Kanitsch said that the Tour De Tempe will be on October 23rd and encouraged other members to go. Betsy Turner said that there were no good, Sunday home games in April for the Valley Bike Week annual Bike-to-Bob ride (now Bike-to-Chase?). She said that the ride could possibly be combined with Glendale's Family Bike Ride. Brian Kanitsch said we could possibly have a Bike-to- Cardinal Stadium in the future. XI. NEXT MEETING Michael Wood said the next regular meeting of the Glendale Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee would be held on Monday, November 7, 2005,6:30 p.m., Room B-3, at the Municipal Complex, 5850 West Glendale Avenue. XII. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the Committee, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and unanimously approved.
