MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
Michael Wood called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
Also in attendance: Brian E. Kanitsch, Betsy Turner, Bill Wilkinson, Jeff Reid and City staff—
Steve Hancock and Sandy Adams
Members absent: Jim Hunton, Charles Grosscup, Ed Cure, and Omar Khiel
Guests: None.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the October 4, 2004 meeting were approved.
III. CALL TO THE PUBLIC
No guests addressed the Committee.
IV. INTRODUCTIONS
Members and guests introduced themselves.
V. CONTINUANCE OR WITHDRAWAL OF AGENDA ITEMS
No agenda items required continuance or withdrawal
VI. REPORTS FROM OTHER COMMITTEES AND ORGANIZATIONS
• Bill Wilkinson said that he had mentioned the CBAC desire to have the Glendale Bicycle Plan
updated at the Citizens Transportation Oversight Committee (CTOC) meeting in November.
He said that Terry Johnson seemed receptive to the idea.
• Jeff Reid reported on activities planned for Valley Bike Week in April of 2005. Steve
Hancock said that the Glendale Family Bike Ride will be held on April 17tH

VII. GLENDALE BICYCLE MAP
Steve Hancock presented slides of a draft cover for the Glendale Bike Map. He said that the
image of a bicycle on the cover was originally an oil painting done by Taliah Lempert. Steve said
the City of Glendale purchased the rights to electronic images (high quality jpegs) of 15 original
paintings by Ms. Lempert-all of bicycles. He said the images would be used throughout the bike
map, interspersed with text and other information. Steve then lead a discussion on the draft
bicycle map for street, route and bikeway correctness and completeness. CBAC members
proffered comments based on their review of the draft map sent to them a week before the
meeting. Steve collected maps from members with their comments to be forwarded to the map
layout person. Brian Kanitsch asked when the underpass at Union Hills and Skunk Creek would
be built. Steve said he thought it would begin design in 2007 and start construction within two
years thereafter.
VIII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
The Glendale Bicycle Plan was suggested as a future agenda item. The Glendale Family Bike
Ride was also suggested as a future agenda item.
IX. OTHER BUSINESS
Betsy Turner said that the Victoria Transport Policy Institute of British Columbia, Canada had
issued a report entitled"Whose Roads: Defining Bicyclists' and Pedestrians'Right to Use Public
Roadways." She recommended the report for insights into bicycling and walking as modes of
transportation.
X. NEXT MEETING
Michael Wood said the next regular meeting of the Glendale Citizen Bicycle Advisory Committee would
be held on Monday, January 3, 2005, 6:30 p.m., Room B-3, at the Municipal Complex, 5850 West
Glendale Avenue.
XII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Committee, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and
unanimously approved. Michael Wood adjourned the meeting at 7:26 p.m.
