GLENDALE CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Elaine M. Scruggs, with Vice Mayor Steven
E. Frate and the following Councilmembers present: Joyce V. Clark, David M. Goulet, Yvonne
J. Knaack, H. Philip Lieberman and Manuel D. Martinez.
Also present were Ed Beasley, City Manager; Craig Tindall, City Attorney; and Pamela
Hanna, City Clerk.
CONSENT RESOLUTIONS
Ms. Pamela Hanna, City Clerk, read consent agenda resolution item number 1 by number
and title.
1. CANVASS OF VOTES FOR THE AUGUST 24, 2010 PRIMARY ELECTION
This is a request for City Council to adopt a resolution declaring and adopting the results of the
August 24,2010 Primary Election.
A.R.S. § 16-642 requires that"the governing body holding an election shall meet and canvass the
election no less than six days nor more than twenty days following the election." The August 24,
2010 Primary Election allows voters to decide the City Council offices for Cholla, Barrel and
Ocotillo districts.
The Notice of Election was published in the Glendale Star on July 8, 15 and 22, 2010, and was
posted on the city's website starting July 8, 2010, through August 24, 2010.
The August 24, 2010 Primary Election was called by the City Council on May 11, 2010,
Resolution No. 4376,New Series.
The recommendation is to waive reading beyond the title and adopt the Canvass of Votes
resolution for the August 24, 2010 Primary Election.
Resolution No. 4411 New Series was read by number and title only, it being A
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA
COUNTY, ARIZONA, DECLARING AND ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE
PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON AUGUST 24, 2010; AND ORDERING THAT A
CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION BE RECORDED.
It was moved by Frate, and seconded by Martinez, to pass, adopt and approve
Resolution No. 4411 New Series. The motion carried unanimously.
