Glendale Ave. Glendale,AZ MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Elaine Scruggs, Present Telephonically Larry Clark, Citizen Board Member, Acting Chair John Holland, Fire Board Member Mark Manor, Fire Board Member STAFF PRESENT: Alma Carmicle, Human Resources Director and Board Secretary Nick DiPia77a, Chief Deputy City Attorney Chris DeChant, Asst. Fire Chief Marcia Zientek, Human Resources Support Staff MEMBERS ABSENT: City Manager Ed Beasley, Board Member Call to Order Larry Clark, Acting Chair, called to order the Local Fire Board meeting at 9:02 a.m. Review and Approval of the October 28,2009 Local Fire Board Meeting Minutes The Minutes of the October 28, 2009 Local Fire Board meeting were reviewed. Mark Manor moved to accept the Minutes as presented. John Holland seconded the motion. The Board voted and passed the motion unanimously. Distribution of Annual Actuarial Valuation of Members for Glendale Fire Fighters Covered By the PSPRS The Board received a copy of the June 30, 2009 Annual Actuarial Valuation Report of Glendale Fire fighters covered by the PSPRS. The purpose of the valuation is to measure the funding progress of the plan and to establish contribution rates for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. Distribution of the Open Meeting Law Booklet The Board received a copy of the Open Meeting Law Booklet in keeping with Arizona Revised Statutes §38- 431-01(G). Page 1 of 2 Local Fire Board Meeting 1/27/10 At this time, Mayor Elaine Scruggs advised the Board to always use caution when answering any e-mail that is addressed to all Board Members (e.g., a meeting reminder). Mayor Scruggs stated that if a `Reply All' is used and there happens to be any additional information appearing in the e-mail, it becomes problematic as it could be considered a `meeting' and would be in violation of the Open Meeting Law. Mayor Scruggs stated that the safest way to proceed is not to use a `Reply All'. Distribution of the Calendar for 2010 PSPRS Board Meetings The Board received a calendar listing the PSPRS Board Meetings scheduled in 2010. New Business There was no new business. Adjournment Larry Clark asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. John Holland made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mark Manor seconded the motion.
