GLENDALE AVIATION CONFERENCE ROOM GLENDALE,AZ 85307 APRIL 8,2009 7:00 P.M. CALL TO ORDER II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Cohoe made a motion to accept the minutes from the March 11, 2009 meeting as presented. Commissioner Kelly seconded the motion and the minutes were approved. IV. BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR None V. AIRPORT BUSINESS A. New Commission Member: Ms. Skeen welcomed and introduced to the Commissioners the new Commissioner Carl Duggins, Cactus District, at the meeting. B. Tower Tour: Mr. Allen, the Tower Manager, took the Commissioners on a pre- construction tour of the tower before the tower renovations start. VI. AIRPORT ADMINISTRATOR UPDATE A. Ms. Skeen provided an update to the Commission on Luke Days activities that took place March 20, 21, and 22 at the airport. There was a sponsor luncheon on Friday in the Flying Skillet Café and parking Saturday and Sunday on the northwest side of Glen Harbor Blvd., which is John F. Long property, and parking in the airport's parking lot on the west side of Glen Harbor Blvd. B. Ms. Skeen updated the Commissioners on the Lux Air Porsche event that took place March 26th. The Porsche event had a car track between the terminal building and Lux Air building and the event went very well. A few extra police officers were there for added security. C. Ms. Skeen updated the Commission on the Master Plan process and that she would like to present the plan to Council the 12th of May Council meeting. Jim Harris of Coffman Associates will be at the Council meeting to answer any questions. The Airport Layout Plan will be sent to the FAA for approval after Council approval. D. Mr. Allen, Control Tower Manager, updated the Commission on Tower Operations for March 2009. This was reported as a decrease of 551 from March 2008 to March 2009. E. Ms. Skeen provided an update on Lux Air fuel sales and flowage comparisons reporting up to 16,528 gallons for the month of March 2009 compared to March 2008. F. Ms. Skeen provided an update on the security fence being installed at the airport and placement of the fencing. The Police Department is allowing the airport to piggyback off their grant to put in a 6ft fence to complete the security fencing between Air West and the wash rack. In this fenced area of 5,022 sq.ft. the airport will be receiving revenue from Air West Helicopters for a land lease to store equipment. There will be wrought iron fencing with a gate key code pad also provided by the Police Department to limit access and to the airside of the airport. G. Ms. Skeen updated the Commission on April activities and upcoming activities in May 2009. Hangar inspections are almost done and going well. Ms. Skeen and Mr. Klink, Airport Crew Leader, attended the FAA Construction Process meeting in Phoenix where discussions included not going into non-movement areas for safety. Ed Hamill practiced aerobatics at the airport before the Luke Days events. Collings Foundation War Birds will be coming to the airport April 24-26 with a B-17, B-22 and P51 on display. The 99'ers, women pilots, will be bringing in about 20 aircraft and hold a convention at the airport late April and will also be painting the airport's Compass Rose while here. The airport is hoping to get the Compass Rose certified after the painting is complete. VII. NEW BUSINESS (Future Agenda Item) III. NEXT MEETING TIME May 9, 2009 Meeting time is scheduled at 8:45 a.m. IX. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Moreno made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
