Home My WebLink AboutMinutes - Minutes - Government Services Committee - Meeting Date: 6/4/2007Government Services Committee Monday, June 4, 2007 Regular Meeting Minutes Council Conference Room 5850 West Glendale Avenue Glendale, AZ Chair Manny Martinez called the meeting to order at 10:07 a.m. Present were Chair Manny Martinez and Councilmember Phil Lieberman and Councilmember Steven Frate. Also in attendance were Kristen Kennedy and Kriss Carneal. 1 — Approval of Minutes: Councilmember Steve Frate made a motion to approve the minutes from the May 15, 2007 meeting. CM Lieberman seconded the motion. Motion approved. 2 — Resignations: Rochelle Jones who serves on the Library Board accepted a position with the Library and had to resign, due to conflict of interest. 3 — Discuss "Initial Term" Definition: Initial Term will consist of if someone fills someone else's term for more than 6 months, it will be considered their first term. Councilmember Lieberman would like to see the ordinance for that the City Attorney referred to regarding length of terms. Vice Mayor explained that this was discussed at the last Executive session on May 15, 2007. 4 — Refresher "Basic Training" for tenured B&C members: Kristen discussed having a refresher course for those tenured members who have been serving on a consecutive basis. There would be an hour of training and a half hour of feedback on how we can make the boards & commissions run more smoothly. Then develop a staff liaison training class with the information we received from the tenured members. 5—Next GSC Meeting & Next Evening Meeting for Oaths: The next swearing in for the appointees will be on June 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. and the next GSC meeting will be on August 21, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. 4 — Request for Motion to Adjourn to Conduct an Executive Session: At 10:24 a.m. Councilmember Frate made a motion to adjourn to conduct the Executive Session.
