HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Minutes - Public Safety Personnel Retirement Boards - Meeting Date: 2/28/2006 (4) Police Board Minutes 02/28/2006 PUBLIC SAFETY PERSONNEL RETIREMENT SYSTEM MINUTES GLENDALE LOCAL POLICE BOARD 02-06 February 28, 2006 MEMBERS PRESENT John Wolfe, Police Board Member Brandon Keefer, Police Officer Mayor Elaine Scruggs MEMBERS ABSENT: Larry Eickman, Citizen Member STAFF PRESENT: Pam Kavanaugh, Assistant City Manager, as designee for Ed Beasley, City Manager Alma Carmicle, Human Resources &Risk Management Director Lupe Sierra, Deputy Human Resources Director Mary Blumer, Sr. Human Resources Analyst Marshall Downen, Police Officer Nick DiPiazza, Deputy City Attorney Call to Order The Police Board meeting was called to order. Review of January 24,2006 Police Board Minutes The minutes of the January 24, 2006, Police Board meeting were reviewed, John Wolfe moved to approve the January 24, 2006, minutes, as presented. Pam Kavanaugh seconded the motion. The Board voted and passed the motion unanimously. Application for D.R.O.P. Retirement-Eric Snell, Police Sergeant The Police Board reviewed Eric Snell's D.R.O.P. application. Eric Snell has 25 years of credited service. He elected to participate in the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (D.R.O.P.) on February 24, 2006. He is eligible to participate for a period of 60 months effective February 24, 2011. On and after this date, employee and employer contributions will cease to be made to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System. He must terminate employment with the City of Glendale Police Department on or before February 24, 2011. He has been a member of the Glendale Police Department since October 30, 1980. Pam Kavanaugh moved to approve Eric Snell's D.R.O.P. application. John Wolfe seconded the motion. No discussion occurred and the motion passed unanimously. Police Board Minutes 02/28/2006 New Police Board Members Sergeant Mark Campbell resigned from the Police Board in January 2006. Officer Brandon Keefer was elected by the Glendale Police Department to serve as a member of the Local Police Board replacing Sergeant Mark Campbell. Officer Keefer was sworn in and participated in today's meeting. Review Police Trainee Medical Evaluations for Pre-Existing Conditions John Wolfe moved to go into Executive Session to review and discuss the medical evaluations of the Police Trainees. Brandon Keefer seconded the motion. Motion passed. The Board adjourned into Executive Session to review and discuss the medical evaluations. After a review of the medical evaluations, John Wolfe made a motion to adjourn from Executive Session and convene in Open Session to vote on each of the new Police Trainees. Pam Kavanaugh seconded the motion. Motion passed. The Board convened in Open Session. The Board was reminded of the confidentiality of the medical evaluation information and not to discuss or disseminate any of the information with any person or persons other than the elected Glendale Police Board members and employees of the City of Glendale who are specifically authorized to participate in the matters before the Board. Cody Mac Henderson: The medical evaluation was reviewed by the Police Board. He meets the standards of the Glendale Police Department and the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. John Wolfe moved to accept him into the Public Safety Retirement System with the pre-existing conditions noted on the A.P.O.S.T. medical evaluation. Pam Kavanaugh seconded the motion. Motion was voted upon and passed unanimously. Aadam Moroni Yates: The medical evaluation was reviewed by the Police Board. He meets the standards of the Glendale Police Department and the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. John Wolfe moved to accept him into the Public Safety Retirement System with the pre-existing conditions noted on the A.P.O.S.T. medical evaluation. Pam Kavanaugh seconded the motion. Motion was voted upon and passed unanimously. Tiffany Sue Kim Smith: The medical evaluation was reviewed by the Police Board. She meets the standards of the Glendale Police Department and the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. John Wolfe moved to accept her into the Public Safety Retirement System with the pre-existing conditions noted on the A.P.O.S.T. medical evaluation. Pam Kavanaugh seconded the motion. Motion was voted upon and passed unanimously. Police Board Minutes 02/28/2006 Acknowledgement from Harold Brady on D.R.O.P.: For the Board's consideration, an acknowledgment of Harold Brady's approval to enter the D.R.O.P. as presented at the January 24, 2006 Police Board Meeting. New Business There was no further business for the Police Board. The Police Board meeting was adjourned, and the meeting was adjourned.
