HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Minutes - City Council - Meeting Date: 11/8/2001 MINUTES CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2001 8:00 A.M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Elaine M. Scruggs, with Vice Mayor Thomas R. Eggleston and the following Councilmembers present: Joyce V. Clark, Steven E. Frate, David M. Goulet, H. Philip Lieberman, and Manuel D. Martinez. Also present were Ed Beasley, Assistant City Manager; and Rick Flaaen, City Attorney. CALL FOR VOTE TO ENTER INTO AN EXECUTIVE SESSION The meeting was called to order by Mayor Scruggs at 8:20 a.m. Mayor Scruggs noted that the agenda for the November 8, 2001 Special City Council Meeting and Executive Session had been posted more than 24 hours in advance. It was moved by Eggleston, and seconded by Frate, to enter into an Executive Session in Room B-3 of the City Council Chambers, immediately following the adjournment of this Special City Council meeting. The purpose of this Executive Session was for the City Council to receive legal advice and provide direction to the City Attorney and City Staff regarding negotiations with the Ellman Group and the Coyotes concerning the development agreements for construction and management of the hockey arena and development of required retail development. (A.R.S. §38-431.03 A.3 & A.4); and for the City Manager and City staff to discuss personnel issues regarding military leave and related benefits for City employees called for military duty and for the City Council to receive legal advice from the City Attorney (A.R.S. §38-431.03 A.3 & A.4).
