CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON JULY 30, 2002
3:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Vice Mayor Thomas R. Eggleston, with the
following Councilmembers present: Joyce V. Clark, Steven E. Frate, and David M.
Goulet. Mayor Elaine M. Scruggs and Councilmembers H. Philip Lieberman and
Manuel D. Martinez were absent.
Also present were Ed Beasley, City Manager; Terry Zerkle, Assistant City
Manager; Rick Flaaen, City Attorney; and Pamela Oliveira, City Clerk.
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE JULY 23, 2002 CITY COUNCIL MEETING
It was moved by Goulet, and seconded by Clark, to dispense with the
reading of the minutes of the July 23, 2002 Regular City Council Meeting, as each
member of the Council had been provided copies in advance, and approve them
as written. The motion carried unanimously.
REQUEST FOR FUTURE EXECUTIVE SESSIONS
It was moved by Frate, and seconded by Goulet, to hold City Council
Executive Sessions in Room B-3 of the Council Chambers at 10 a.m. on
Wednesday, August 7, 2002, and at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2002,
pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03. The motion carried unanimously.
CALL FOR VOTE TO ENTER INTO AN EXECUTIVE SESSION
It was moved by Frate, and seconded by Goulet, to enter into an Executive
Session in Room B-3 of the City Council Chambers, immediately following the
adjournment of this Special City Council meeting, for the purpose of the City
Council receiving legal advice and for the City Council to provide direction to the
City Attorney and City staff regarding negotiations with the Tourism and Sports
Authority concerning the development of a multi-purpose facility. (A.R.S. §38-
431.03 A.3 & A.4). The motion carried unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
