CALL TO ORDER Vice-Chairperson Madelin Page called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 23,2006 COMMISSION MEETING A motion was made by Commissioner Roslyn Abramowitz to approve the minutes, and seconded by Commissioner Karen Nikoloudakis. The motion carried unanimously. 3. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS None 4. BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR None �/ 5. AGENDA ITEMS A. COMMUNITY HOUSING DIVISION FISCAL YEAR-END COMPARISON Staff member Karen Russell presented this item. This item was a correction as the figures prepared for the September 2006 meeting were incorrect. Figures were compared from Fiscal Year-end 2006 and 2005. Some of the items in the report include the number of people added or removed from both the Section 8 and Public Housing waiting lists, how many inspections were completed over the year, how many maintenance work orders were completed, and the total dollar amounts paid out to Section 8 landlords. No further action was required. B. DISCUSSION ON GLENDALE RENTAL HOMES COMMUNITIES PROJECT Staff member Elaine Adamczyk presented this item. The city developed an artist-in- residence program and public art project for teens living in the three public housing rental communities. Funding was received from the city's Arts Commission and the project began in June 2006. Rebecca Ross,the artist selected for the project,presented an overview of the project and what the students had accomplished. She thanked the commission for the opportunity to • work with the students on this project. The students then shared their experiences and their favorite photos. Vice-Chairperson Madelin Page asked the students what they felt was the most important thing they learned from their experiences. Some responses included focusing on a possible future career, focusing on the background of the pictures, and having fun. The project will go before the Arts Commission next month for approval of the final design and installation and the three rental communities. No further action was required. 6. COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP DIRECTOR'S UPDATE On behalf of Director Erik Strunk, Diana Whittle, Sr. Management Assistant,provided an update of recent and upcoming events for Community Partnerships. The latest CDBG process is underway. Three neighborhood grants have been received totaling $287,917. In September, 100 volunteers from the Garvin School of International Management completed a variety of community service projects. On September 26, City Council approved$234,846 for the installation of curb cuts,trees, and an irrigation system within the Catlin Court historic district. The most recent HOA Academy graduates on November 2, 2006. No further action was required. 2 7. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS There were no written communications to discuss. No action was required. 8. MISCELLANEOUS The next Housing Advisory meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday,November 27, 2006. No action was required. 9. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Commissioner Roslyn Abramowitz, and seconded by Commissioner Karen Nikoloudakis, to adjourn.
