A. COMMUNITY HOUSING DIVISION FISCAL YEAR-END COMPARISON
Staff member Karen Russell presented this item. This item was a correction as the
figures prepared for the September 2006 meeting were incorrect. Figures were compared
from Fiscal Year-end 2006 and 2005. Some of the items in the report include the number
of people added or removed from both the Section 8 and Public Housing waiting lists,
how many inspections were completed over the year, how many maintenance work orders
were completed, and the total dollar amounts paid out to Section 8 landlords. No further
action was required.
B. DISCUSSION ON GLENDALE RENTAL HOMES COMMUNITIES PROJECT
Staff member Elaine Adamczyk presented this item. The city developed an artist-in-
residence program and public art project for teens living in the three public housing rental
communities. Funding was received from the city's Arts Commission and the project
began in June 2006.
Rebecca Ross, the artist selected for the project, presented an overview of the project and
what the students had accomplished. She thanked the commission for the opportunity to
•
work with the students on this project. The students then shared their experiences and
their favorite photos. Vice-Chairperson Madelin Page asked the students what they felt
was the most important thing they learned from their experiences. Some responses
included focusing on a possible future career, focusing on the background of the pictures,
and having fun.
The project will go before the Arts Commission next month for approval of the final
design and installation and the three rental communities. No further action was required.
