(. HOUSING ADVISORY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE,
MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA HELD
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1993 AT 5: 30 P.M.
Call To Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 P.M. by Chairperson Horton.
Present were members Hurley, Helka, and Tomlin. Absent was Pine.
A quorum was present.
Reading of the. Minutes
Motion by Hurley, seconded by Tomlin, that reading of the minutes
be dispensed with since each commissioner had received a copy
before the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Secretary Hamilton introduced guest Paul D-. Lang, Sr. , candidate
for Council from the Ocotillo district. He has been attending
meetings to learn more about the commissions.
Fair Market Rent Update
Staff presented a chart comparing the fair markets rents (FMR)•
approved onOctober1, 1992 and October 1, 1993 . The low FMR for
one bedroom units is a concern because it is causing many units to
1 become unavailable. This was an information item and no action was
required.
EvictionProcedures
Staff presented a sample packet of the procedures for evicting
public housing tenants for lease violations. other than violent or
criminal activity. Commissioner Horton thanked the staff for
responding to commission requests by providing the information
about evictions and the fair market rents. This was an information
item and no action was required.
Step-Up Status Report
Staff informed the commission that the request for proposals for
administrative services for the Step-Up Program has been sent to
the Department of Hous'i.ng and Urban Development (HUD.) for review
and approval. After approval, the advertisement for proposals will
be published. No actionwas required on this information item.
Revenue/Expenditure Report
The revenue and expenditure report for the month of August 1993was
presentedfor review. An independent audit was just completed with --
no findings. This was an information item and no action was
) required.

Monthly Activity Report
The monthly activity report was presented for commission review
with a key attached to clarify the activities described, as
requested at the previous meeting. No action was required.
Comments and Suggestions
Secretary Hamilton advised the commission that the December meeting
would be vacated unless something urgent came up.
Commissioner Horton commended the staff for an excellent job.
Adjournment
On motion by Hurley, seconded by Helka, the meeting adjourned at
5:55 P.M.
