ORDINANCE NO. 970 NEW SERIES
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, ARIZONA, EXTEND-
ING AND INCREASING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF GLENDALE, MARICOPA COUNTY, STATE
OF ARIZONA, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF
ARTICLE 7, CHAPTER 4, TITLE 9, ARIZONA RE-
VISED STATUTES AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, BY
ANNEXING THERETO CERTAIN TERRITORY CONTIG-
UOUS TO THE EXISTING CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF GLENDALE: AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS petitions have been presented in writing to the Mayor and
Council of the City of Glendale, Arizona, signed by the owners of more than
one-half in value of the real and personal property as would be subject to
taxation by the City of Glendale in the event of annexation within the
territory and land hereinafter described as shown by the last assessment
of said property, which said territory is contiguous to the City of Glendale,
and not now embraced within its limits, asking that the property more partic-
ularly hereinafter described be annexed to the City of Glendale, and to extend
and increase the corporate limits of the City of Glendale so as to embrace the
same; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of the City of Glendale, Arizona, are
k •' desirous of complying with said petition and extending and increasing the cor-
porate limits of the City of Glendale to include said territory: and
WHEREAS the said petition sets forth a true and correct description of
all the exterior boundaries of the entire area proposed to be annexed to the
City of Glendale: and
WHEREAS no additions or alterations increasing the territory sought to
be annexed have been made after the said petition had been signed by any owner
of real and/or personal property in such territory; and
; : WHEREAS proper and sufficient certification and proof of the foregoing
facts are now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Glendale,
Arizona, together with the original petition referred to herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE as
follows:

SECTION 1 . That the following described territory be, and the same
hereby is annexed to the City of Glendale, and that the present corporate
limits be, and the same hereby are, extended and increased to include the
following described territory contiguous to the present City Limits of
Glendale, to-wit:
Those portions of Sections 1 and 12, T. 3N. , R. 1 E, ; Sections
5, 7, 18 and 19, T. 3 N. , R. 2 E. ; Sections 13, 14, 23, 26, 35,
and 36, T. 4 N. , R. 1 E. ; and Sections 17, 18, 20, 29 and 32,
T. 4 N. , R. 2 E. ; G&SRB&M, Maricopa County, Arizona, being
described as follows, to include:
The West 10.00 feet of that part of the E 1/2 W 1/2 of Section
1 , T.3 N. , R. 1 E. , lying North of the Northeasterly right-of-
way line of the S.R.P. Arizona Canal (as recorded in Book 128 of
Maps, Page 34, M.C.R. ) . A strip of land 10.00 feet wide lying
adjacent to the Northeasterly right-of-way line of said S.R. P.
Arizona Canal within the E 1/2 W 1/2 of Section 1 , T. 3 N. ,
R. 1 E.
A strip of land 10.00 feet wide lying adjacent to the Northeasterly
right-of-way line of the S.R.P. Arizona Canal (as recorded in Book
128 of Maps, Page 33, M.C.R. ) within the N 1/2 of Section 12,
T. 3 N. , R. 1 E.
The West 10.00 feet of the East 75.00 feet of the North 65.00
feet of Section 5, T. 3 N. , R. 2 E.
A strip of land 10.00 feet wide lying adjacent to the Northeasterly
right-of-way line of the S. R.P. Arizona Canal (as recorded in Book
128 of Maps, Page 36, M.C.R. ) within the West 65.00 feet of Section
7, T. 3 N. , R. 2 E. The East 10.00 feet of the West 65.00 feet of
that part of Section 7, T. 3 N. , R. 2 E. , lying South of the North-
easterly right-of-way line of said S.R.P. Arizona Canal .
The East 10.00 feet of the West 65.00 feet of Section 18, T. 3 N. ,
R. 2 E.
The East 10.00 feet of the West 65.00 feet of the N 1/2 of Section
19, T. 3 N. , R. 2 E. The South 10.00 feet of the North 50.00 feet

SECTION 2. That a copy of this Ordinance, together with an accurate
map of the territory hereby annexed to the City of Glendale, certified by
the Mayor of said City, be forthwith filed and recorded in the office of
the County Recorder of Maricopa County, Arizona.
SECTION 3. WHEREAS the immediate operation of the provisions of this
Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and
safety of the City of Glendale, an emergency is hereby declared to exist,
and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its pas-
sage, adoption and approval by the Mayor and Council of the City of Glendale,
and it is hereby exempt from the referendum provisions of the Constitution
and laws of the State of Arizona.
